I am a science writer, living and working in the Netherlands. My specialty lies in health, psychology and brain science. More specifically I’ve written a lot about gender, sexuality, forensic psychology, poverty and obesity in the last couple of years. I write regurlarly for both national daily newspapers and monthly consumer magazines. In June 2010 my first book came out. In my book I argue that new scientific insights into brain plasticity and epigenetics make it improbable that gender difference are hardwired into the brain even before we are born. It was very well received by the Dutch media and, amongst other things, nominated for the top 20 of the best Dutch non-fiction of 2010.

In my free time I love to read, make fun of my husband or get my daughters dirty by working in the garden or going to a petting zoo.
